What Is Qi?

The simplest definition of qi is “energy.” Literally, qi means “air” or “breath,” which is why it is often translated as “life energy” or “vital energy.” Qi is what makes us alive. While qi (pronounced “chee”) is a Chinese term, the concept exists in other cultures as well. In Taiwan they call it ki, in Japan it is ki, in Korea it is gi, and in Vietnam it is khi. Qi has also been compared to the Indian concept of prana, the ancient Egyptian ka, the Hawaiian mana and the Christian Holy Spirit.

While I make no claims as to the health benefits of my jewelry, it is my hope that wearing these sparkly, shiny things will make you happy, which in turn will boost your spirits, bump up your qi, and ease whatever ails you.
